First-year students hoping to join Egerton University have little reason to worry about accommodation, provided they make arrangements early.
The university has a policy of reserving accommodation for new first-year students, giving freshers an advantage over continuing students when it comes to securing bed spaces.
According to Egerton University, all new full-time first-year undergraduate students are required to reside in university hostels. The institution sets aside rooms for first-year students during the annual allocation process.
The university’s accommodation system also requires students to book rooms early, with its handbook stating that room booking at the Njoro Campus is conducted online on a first-come, first-served basis once vacant bed spaces have been declared.
For students joining Egerton this year, early action could therefore make the transition to university life smoother and help them avoid the last-minute scramble for accommodation.
The university has previously advised new students to select and pay for accommodation during the early registration process before reporting to campus.
Egerton’s hostels are located within the university premises, close to lecture halls, laboratories, the library and other student facilities, making it convenient for learners to move between their residences and classes.
The institution offers different hostel options, with charges varying depending on the facility and room occupancy.
First-years given accommodation priority
For first-year students, the message is clear: while accommodation is largely catered for, early booking and payment remain important to secure a preferred bed space and avoid unnecessary pressure before reporting to campus.
New students can also contact the university’s Accommodation Department for clarification on booking and allocation procedures.
