Lenana School is undergoing a change of leadership following the early retirement of Chief Principal William Kiplagat Kemei.
Kemei opted for early retirement effective August 1, 2026, according to a communication sent to parents and guardians by the school’s Parents Association.
The communication, signed by Parents Association Chairman Jonah Marahpash, also announced that One Koech will take up the new assignment at the institution.
“William Kiplagat Kemei has opted for early retirement with effect from 1st August 2026,” Marahpash said in the notice.
The development marks a change of guard at the Nairobi-based national school, with the Parents Association thanking Kemei for his leadership and service to the institution.

“On behalf of the Parent Association, Parents and Guardian I extend our sincere gratitude to Kemei for his dedicated service and leadership at Lenana School, and we welcome One Koech as he takes up this new assignment,” Marahpash said.
The communication did not state the reasons behind Kemei’s decision to take early retirement.
It also did not provide further details about Koech, including his full name, previous station or the capacity in which he will initially take over the school.
The Parents Association indicated that more information concerning the leadership change would be provided later.
“Further communication on the transition will follow in due course,” Marahpash said.
The change places Koech at the helm of one of Kenya’s prominent national boys’ schools as the institution proceeds with the leadership transition.
Parents and guardians are expected to receive further communication concerning the handover and other details surrounding the change of guard.

The announcement means Kemei’s tenure at Lenana School has formally come to an end following his decision to leave service through early retirement.
