The Education Stakeholders Association of Kenya (ESAK) has formally endorsed the nomination of Wilson Sossion and Antonina Lentoijoni as Commissioners of the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), citing their deep institutional experience and proven leadership in the education sector
In a memorandum addressed to the Clerk of the National Assembly dated 7th August 2026, ESAK described the two nominees as individuals whose backgrounds “directly complement the administrative mandate of the Commission,” adding that their appointment would strengthen teacher management and policy formulation.
Backing Sossion’s nomination, ESAK cited his multi-decade background in the education sector as a frontline teacher, trade union leader and parliamentarian, saying his experience in teacher welfare, labour relations and classroom dynamics “directly complements the administrative mandate of the Commission.”
ESAK further noted his legislative and policy governance experience during his tenure in the National Assembly, and his record of prioritising teacher capacity building, fair labour practices and professional ethics.
On Lentoijoni’s nomination, ESAK pointed to her rise from classroom teacher through progressive administrative roles to Director of Staffing at TSC, saying this trajectory gives her “a comprehensive understanding of both institutional operations and field-level realities.”

The memo stated that her expertise in managing national teacher recruitment, deployment strategies and balanced staffing allocations is critical for handling teacher distribution across all 47 counties, particularly in under-staffed, marginalised and hardship areas. It added that her long-standing involvement with the TSC Secretariat gives her direct technical experience in managing the Teacher Management Information System (TMIS), deployment frameworks and workforce planning required to support key programmes, including the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
ESAK further emphasised that the duo’s combined expertise “brings together external sector advocacy and internal administrative management,” aligning with Article 237(2) of the Constitution, which mandates the TSC to promote equity, efficiency, and professional development within the teaching service.

ESAK commended the Executive for nominating “individuals with demonstrated experience, technical competence, and sectoral familiarity,” urging Parliament’s Departmental Committee on Education to approve their appointments.
The memorandum was signed by ESAK National Secretary Ndung’u Wangenye, alongside National Chairman Fuad Ali and National Treasurer Benter Opande.
