Bungoma County has finalised preparations to host the 2026 Kenya National Music Festival, with thousands of learners, teachers, adjudicators and Ministry of Education officials expected to stream into the county for the week‑long showcase beginning today. The national event will be staged at Kibabii University, transforming Bungoma into the country’s cultural capital for the duration of the festival.
Education authorities have rolled out an elaborate accommodation and logistics plan to ensure smooth coordination of participants drawn from across Kenya. Dozens of secondary schools have been designated as official accommodation villages, each tasked with hosting delegations from specific regions.
Under the allocation, Friends School Kamusinga will host teams from Nairobi Region, while Khasoko ACK Boys High School and Namwela Friends Boys High School have been earmarked for Eastern Region participants. Lugulu Girls High School has also been assigned Nairobi teams. Cardinal Otunga Girls High School will accommodate delegations from the Coast and North Eastern regions, while Kolanya Boys High School will host teams from the Central Region. Kibabii University itself will house a section of participants, adjudicators and festival officials.

Additional centres include Lwanda Girls High School, Teremi High School, St. Cecilia Misikhu Girls High School and St. Luke’s Kimilili Boys High School, among others strategically selected to support the smooth running of the national event. Organisers say the comprehensive logistical arrangements underscore Bungoma’s readiness to stage one of Kenya’s premier co‑curricular festivals.
The Kenya National Music Festival annually brings together top‑performing schools and colleges to compete in music, dance, drama, elocution and cultural performances after progressing through regional contests. With the first batch of delegates expected to arrive from Friday, Bungoma is poised to host one of the largest gatherings on the education calendar, reinforcing its growing reputation as a preferred destination for national academic and co‑curricular events.
