Former Butere Girls High School football sensation Lornah Faith Wasike has taken a major step in her sporting and academic journey after departing Kenya for the United States, where she is set to join Texas A&M University on a football scholarship.
The latest development marks another milestone for one of Kenya’s most promising young footballers.
Wasike rose to national prominence during her time at Butere Girls, helping the school dominate secondary school football.
She played a key role in the team’s Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) national title-winning campaign and was widely recognised for her outstanding performances, earning the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award.
Her impressive displays also earned her a place in Kenya’s Junior Starlets squad, where she continued to shine on the international stage.
Wasike was among the standout players as Kenya made history by qualifying for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, becoming one of the country’s brightest football prospects.
New chapter in United States
The move to Texas A&M University presents Wasike with an opportunity to combine higher education with elite collegiate football in the United States while continuing her development as a player.
