Lamu Governor Issa Timamy has launched a newly completed Early Childhood Development and Education (ECDE) centre and a modern toilet block at Ziwani, as part of the county’s continued investment in early learning infrastructure.
The new facility is expected to benefit more than 150 learners, offering a safe and child-friendly environment for early education in the area.
Speaking at the launch, Timamy said the county government will construct two additional classrooms at the institution to accommodate a growing number of learners. He also pledged to furnish the school with modern furniture, swings and other play equipment, in line with the county’s plan to standardise ECDE facilities.

The Governor said early childhood education remains a priority for his administration, adding that a proper learning environment is essential for children to learn, play and grow.
Area Member of County Assembly (MCA) Francis Gakonga praised the county government for completing the project, saying the improved facility would have a lasting effect on the education and wellbeing of children in Ziwani.
