- Kaundu Mixed coach Titus Muthengi has vowed to rebuild his team after losing 3-2 to Matiliku Boys in the Eastern region ball games.
- The school reached the regional level for the first time, surprising many with their performance.
- Muthengi encouraged learners to balance academics and sports, noting that some players have already been scouted.
Having lost to their opponent Matiliku Boys, who scored 3 sets against Kaundu Mixed with 2 sets, the school volleyball coach Titus Muthengi noted that they are going to build the team and fill the gap.
“Well we had a very tough team playing against tough Matiliku Boys of Makueni County. We took the first set but we lost in the final round. Our boys really tried and we’re very confident of the win, however we are sure next year we will head to nationals,” Muthengi said.
Speaking at Makueni Boys after the conclusion of Eastern region ball games, Muthengi, who is also the school deputy principal, added that they accepted the results despite it being their first time to reach the regional level.
Kaundu is a school in Mwingi North which has recently taken people by surprise after projecting good results in national examinations, meaning they blend classwork with co-curricular activities very well.
“We encourage our students to balance the two well since a good player with good academic papers is a plus. You see sports pay, there are few learners who have been scouted already,” Muthengi said.
