- President William Ruto has released Sh10 million for classroom construction and renovation at Mogweko Junior Secondary School.
- Area MP Daniel Manduku says the project will provide a better learning environment for learners.
- Residents say the investment will ease congestion and improve education standards in the area.
Mogweko Junior Secondary School (JSS) in Nyaribari Masaba has received Sh10 million from President William Ruto following his visit to the Kisii region last month.
Area MP Dr. Daniel Manduku said the money will be used to construct and renovate classrooms.
He said the project will provide learners with a child-friendly environment that supports effective teaching and learning.
Parents welcomed the President’s fulfilment of the pledge, saying it demonstrated his commitment to delivering on promises made to the community.
They expressed optimism that the new facilities would ease classroom congestion and improve learning outcomes.
Education is the greatest investment
Dr. Manduku urged residents to prioritise education and support development initiatives that benefit learners.
According to the MP, education remains the greatest legacy parents can leave their children.
“The best way you can bless your children, apart from land, is through education. Land continues to diminish in the region because of population pressure,” he said.
Roads to complement education
The MP also assured residents that the government will continue implementing development projects, including road infrastructure, to improve trade and complement investments in education.
He said good roads improve access to schools by enabling learners and teachers to travel safely and on time, even during the rainy season, thereby reducing absenteeism and lateness.
Improved roads also facilitate the timely delivery of textbooks, desks, laboratory equipment and school feeding supplies, minimising disruptions to teaching and learning.
In addition, he noted that better road networks strengthen parental and community participation by making schools more accessible to parents, education officials and development partners.

Dr. Manduku said the combination of improved classrooms and better road infrastructure will provide learners in Nyaribari Masaba with the facilities and connectivity needed to compete favourably at the national level.
