Matungu Member of Parliament Peter Oscar Nabulindo has urged residents to have more children, assuring them that his leadership will continue investing heavily in education to ensure every child has access to learning opportunities.

Speaking during the commissioning of the new Shiakula Chief’s Office, a project funded through the Matungu National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF), Nabulindo said his mission is to ensure that no child in the constituency is denied education because of financial challenges.

“My mission is to educate your children. Your responsibility is to give birth, while mine is to ensure they remain in school,” the MP told residents.

Nabulindo used the occasion to outline several development projects implemented across the constituency, saying education remains the cornerstone of his leadership agenda.

Among the projects he highlighted were the construction of an administration block at Mayoni Township School, a multi-storey classroom block at Koyonzo Comprehensive School, the establishment of a Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) campus in Kialabala Ward and the ongoing construction of a Technical Training Institute (TTI) in Namamali.

He also announced plans to officially reopen the newly completed classroom block at Koyonzo Comprehensive School before commissioning a new dormitory at St. Agnes Mpira Girls School.

More bursaries planned

The legislator further revealed that preparations were underway to roll out another bursary programme following the commencement of the new financial year.

He said the initiative would ensure learners from vulnerable families continue with their education uninterrupted.

“You elected me to work for you, and I will continue frustrating you with development across Matungu,” he said.

The newly commissioned Shiakula Chief’s Office is expected to improve the delivery of government services by bringing public administration closer to residents.

Representing the Deputy County Commissioner, Matungu Division Assistant County Commissioner Joel Ondicho commended the MP for supporting the construction of the office, saying it would enhance government service delivery.

Ondicho also encouraged young people to enrol in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions to acquire practical skills that would improve their employment prospects.

“Skills development is critical in today’s economy. Young people should embrace technical training opportunities to remain productive throughout their lives,” he said.

Praise for education investment

Education stakeholder Mwalimu Godfrey Nyangule praised Nabulindo for prioritising investment in schools and educational infrastructure across the constituency.

He said the projects demonstrated the MP’s commitment to improving education and expanding learning opportunities for young people.
