  • TSC has dismissed as fake a document circulating on social media purporting to be an official communication from the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) rejecting the Commission’s proposed CPG for teachers.
  • The Commission has urged teachers and members of the public to disregard the memo, warning against the spread of misinformation on official government matters.

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has dismissed as fake a document circulating on social media purporting to be an official communication from the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) rejecting the Commission’s proposed Career Progression Guidelines (CPG) for teachers.

The purported memo, allegedly signed by SRC Chairperson Sammy Chepkwony, claims that the SRC had reviewed the proposed Career Progression Guidelines submitted by TSC and declined to approve them, citing their financial implications, impact on the public wage bill, equity within the public service, and concerns over fiscal sustainability.

According to the fake document, the SRC purportedly resolved not to approve the proposed guidelines in their current form and advised the TSC to revise the proposal by addressing issues of affordability, sustainability, equity, and available fiscal space.

It further claimed that the existing Career Progression Guidelines would remain in force until a revised proposal was submitted and approved.

However, the TSC has clarified that the document is fraudulent and did not originate from either the Commission or the SRC. The Commission urged teachers and members of the public to disregard the memo, warning against the spread of misinformation on official government matters.

The Commission reiterated that any official communication regarding teachers’ career progression, promotions, or policy changes is issued through its verified communication channels and encouraged stakeholders to rely only on authentic information.

The fake memo has sparked confusion among teachers, many of whom have been closely following discussions surrounding the review of the Career Progression Guidelines and ongoing reforms in the teaching service.
