Speaking during a women empowerment event at Akatch Stadium in Kaiti Constituency, Mbaika noted that despite receiving lower bursary allocations than some other constituencies, Kaiti had still been cited in the audit report. She emphasized that transparency and accountability are essential in ensuring education funds benefit deserving students.
“The funds in question could have supported many needy learners through bursary and sponsorship programmes. Public resources must be managed responsibly to ensure they reach the intended beneficiaries,” she said.

Mbaika was referring to an audit report released three months ago by the Auditor General Nancy Gathungu, which raised concerns over unsupported bursary disbursements in five constituencies.
According to the report, Narok West Constituency had unresolved bursary queries amounting to Ksh218.79 million, followed by Kaiti Constituency with Ksh201.63 million, Kilgoris Constituency with Ksh138 million, Gichugu Constituency with Ksh86.44 million, and Ganze Constituency with Ks77.82 million.
She urged leaders entrusted with public funds to uphold integrity and ensure that bursary programmes serve their intended purpose of supporting financially disadvantaged learners.
