Fresh from being crowned Migori County soccer champions in the ongoing Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) Term Two Games, Kodero Bara High School has received a timely boost after a well-wisher donated a new set of playing uniforms and football boots ahead of the regional championships.

The donation fulfilled a pledge made by the donor during the Sub-county competitions at Taranganya Boys High School, where the team impressed with its performances.

The school’s Deputy Principal welcomed the support, saying the new kits had inspired the players as they prepare for the next stage of the competition.

“With the new uniforms, the boys have been highly motivated,” he said.

The team’s coach also expressed gratitude, noting that the donation would boost the players’ confidence and morale as they head to the Nyanza Region championships.

Kodero Bara will represent Migori County at the regional games set to begin on July 8 in Homa Bay County.

According to Nyanza Region KSSSA Organising Secretary Simeon Ongaga, the fixtures have already been released, with teams grouped into pools.

Kodero Bara has been drawn in Pool A, where it will open its campaign against Madeno School of Kisumu County at St. Ambrose School Ground.

In the same pool, St. Cyprian Biticha of Nyamira County will face Gendia Boys at Raila Odinga Homa Bay Stadium, while Sameta Boys of Kisii County will take on Kisumu 2 at Lala Playing Grounds.

Pool B will feature a highly anticipated clash between Ringa Boys and St. Mary’s Yala of Siaya County.

Nyanza Regional Director of Education Lawrence Karuntimi wished all participating teams success, urging them to uphold discipline throughout the tournament.

He assured schools that adequate security arrangements had been put in place to ensure the competition is conducted in a peaceful and safe environment.

Kodero Bara Boys Secondary School, based in Rongo Sub-county, has established itself as one of Migori County’s leading football powerhouses. The school has consistently excelled in both Sub-county and County KSSSA competitions, earning several appearances at the Nyanza regional championships.

Its strong football culture has produced talented players who have progressed to colleges and local football clubs, while its emphasis on discipline, teamwork and determination has earned the team a reputation as a formidable opponent.

With the county title secured and new playing kits boosting confidence, Kodero Bara will be hoping to extend its impressive run and challenge for regional honours in Homa Bay.
