  • The institution made history by winning both the boys’ and girls’ football titles, earning automatic qualification to the regional games.

Fresh from a historic double triumph at the Narok county secondary school term two games, Olmelil secondary school has now shifted its attention to the upcoming Rift Valley regional championships set to be staged in Narok county from July 6 to 13.

The Trans Mara West-based institution made history by winning both the boys’ and girls’ football titles, earning automatic qualification to the regional games where they will face some of the strongest school teams from across the Rift Valley.

School Principal Benard Sironik said the county success was a major achievement but emphasized that the focus has now moved to preparing the teams for the tougher regional challenge ahead.

“The county titles are behind us now. Our attention is on the regional games. We know the competition will be much tougher, and we are working hard to ensure our players are ready both physically and mentally,” said Sironik.

Boys’ team coach Hosea Kirui noted that the regional championships will provide a bigger platform for the players to showcase their talent.

“We have celebrated our county but football is about moving forward. The boys understand the task ahead and are determined to represent Narok County with pride,” he said.

Girls’ coach Eunice Nyambura expressed confidence in her squad saying the players have maintained their focus despite the excitement surrounding their county triumph.

“Our objective is to compete strongly at the regional level and continue improving with every match. The girls are motivated and ready for the challenge,” she said.

Sironik said that they have intensified preparations, with both teams expected to undergo intensive training sessions before the regional championships.

Having conquered Narok County, Olmelil Secondary School will now be seeking to extend its remarkable run and establish itself among the top football schools in the Rift Valley region.
