Bungoma High crowned county Rugby 7s champions after crushing Kamusinde

Bungoma High School have been crowned the 2026 Bungoma County Rugby 7s champions after a commanding 33-0 victory over Kamusinde Secondary School in the county final.

The emphatic win capped an impressive campaign by the champions, who showcased skill, discipline and teamwork throughout the tournament.

Kamusinde, despite the loss in the final, earned praise for a spirited performance and a strong run to the championship match.

Kamusinga High School finished third, while Bokoli Boys High School secured fourth place in a highly competitive tournament that highlighted the growing standards of school rugby in Bungoma County.

Four teams qualify for regionals

All four semi-finalists have qualified for the Western Region Rugby 7s Championships, which will be hosted in Bungoma County after the mid-term break.

The hosting rights have ensured that the county’s top four teams will advance to the regional stage, giving Bungoma a strong representation in the competition.

Bungoma High School head into the regional games as county champions, while Kamusinde, Kamusinga and Bokoli Boys will be looking to build on their county performances and make an impact against some of the best rugby teams from across the Western Region.

Final standings

The final standings saw Bungoma High School finish as champions, Kamusinde as runners-up, Kamusinga High School in third place and Bokoli Boys High School in fourth place.

Bokoli Boys’ qualification is particularly noteworthy, as the team secured a coveted regional slot by finishing among the county’s top four sides.

With the county competition now concluded, attention turns to the Western Region Rugby 7s Championships, where the four Bungoma schools will carry the county’s hopes and seek further success on home soil.
