The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has issued a public warning over a fake social media post claiming that the council intends to recruit non-teachers as examination supervisors, invigilators and examiners.

In a notice shared on its official platforms, KNEC flagged the viral post as fake and cautioned members of the public against being misled by unauthorized information circulating online.

The misleading post, attributed to a social media account identified as “JOSEE GEN-Z,” alleged that the examination body was planning major reforms in the recruitment of examination personnel.

Public Urged to Verify Information

KNEC emphasized that any official communication regarding recruitment, examination administration or policy changes is only released through its verified channels, including its official website and social media accounts.

The council urged Kenyans to verify information before sharing it in order to avoid spreading misinformation.

The examinations body noted that it has recently been forced to distance itself from several fake notices and misleading social media posts touching on examiner recruitment, payment of examination officials, examination schedules and other education-related matters.

KNEC warned that such misinformation has the potential to create confusion among teachers, learners, parents and other stakeholders.

Stay Alert to Fraudsters

The council further advised members of the public to remain vigilant against fraudsters who often use fabricated notices bearing KNEC branding to deceive unsuspecting individuals.
