  • The Michuki National Polytechnic has been closed indefinitely following student unrest, with all learners ordered to vacate the campus.

  • The institution said the reopening date will be communicated later through official channels once the situation is resolved.

Students of Michuki National Polytechnic have been ordered to vacate the institution after the management announced its indefinite closure following unrest reported at the institution on Monday, June 15, 2026.

In a memo signed by Chief Principal Anne Mbogo, the institution said the decision was reached after consultations with the Security Committee and other relevant authorities.

The management stated that the closure would take effect immediately and remain in force until further notice.

The notice directed all students to leave the campus peacefully by 3:00 p.m. on June 15, 2026, to allow authorities to restore normalcy and address issues that led to the unrest.

The administration did not provide detailed information regarding the cause of the disturbances in the official communication.

Reports circulating on social media indicated that the unrest disrupted normal learning activities at the institution.

Some accounts linked the protests to grievances among students, although the management has not publicly confirmed the specific triggers of the demonstrations.

The closure adds to a growing list of learning institutions across the country that have experienced student unrest in recent months, forcing administrators to suspend operations temporarily as investigations and consultations continue.

Students and parents have been advised to await further communication from the institution regarding the reopening date.

According to the memorandum, the return-to-campus schedule will be announced through the polytechnic’s official communication channels once the situation has been resolved.
