Past rugby action

Maseno School has been crowned champions of the Kisumu West Sub-County Term Two Ball Games after a dominant performance in the boys’ Rugby 7s competition, boosting the school’s ambitions of returning to the national stage and beyond.

The rugby giants swept past their opponents with convincing victories, including a 56-0 win over Kuoyo and a 55-0 triumph against Chulaimbo. A hard-fought 10-10 draw against Jans Academy was enough to secure the top spot and the sub-county title.

Jans Academy finished second, followed by Chulaimbo in third place and Kuoyo in fourth.

Principal expresses confidence

Maseno School Chief Principal Peter Owino expressed confidence in the squad’s ability to progress through the next stages of the competition.

“We are proud of the boys for their outstanding performance. This is just the beginning. We are hopeful of reaching the national championships and eventually earning a place at the Federation of Africa Secondary Schools Sports Association (FASSSA) games,” said Owino.

The principal attributed the team’s success to discipline, hard work, and the commitment of both players and coaches, noting that the school remains determined to reclaim its position among the continent’s top secondary school rugby teams.

Eyes on county and national glory

Maseno School boasts a rich sporting tradition and has produced some of Kenya’s finest rugby talents.

The latest triumph has renewed optimism among students, alumni, and supporters that the institution can once again make a significant impact on the national and African schools’ sports scene.

With the Kisumu West title secured, attention now shifts to the county championships, where Maseno will be seeking to maintain its unbeaten run and move a step closer to national and continental glory.\
