The Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), Ms Evaleen Mitei, MBS, accompanied by Dr Beatrice Inyangala, Principal Secretary for Higher Education, Mr Elias Abdi, Director General for Basic Education, and other TSC officers, visited Wajir Girls High School in a tour aimed at strengthening educational standards and promoting learner and teacher welfare.
During the visit, Ms Mitei engaged learners, teachers, and TSC Secretariat staff from the county in discussions on education, academic performance, and the future of Kenya’s learners. She encouraged students to remain disciplined, focused, and determined in pursuing their dreams, emphasising that success is built through hard work, consistency, and good character.
Addressing the students, Ms Mitei delivered a powerful message that resonated deeply with learners. She reminded them that the future of the nation rests in their hands and challenged them to embrace excellence in all they do.
“The nation is counting on you. Rise above excuses, embrace discipline, and pursue excellence with everything you have. Your dreams are valid, your potential is immense, and your future begins with the choices you make today. Let every lesson, every assignment, and every challenge move you one step closer to the greatness that awaits you. Kenya needs your talent, your integrity, and your leadership. Refuse to settle for mediocrity—strive to be the very best version of yourself,” she said.
Mitei further noted that every learner possesses the potential to achieve greatness regardless of background or circumstance. She urged students to remain resilient in the face of challenges and to view education as the most reliable pathway to personal transformation and national development.
Ms Mitei also recognised the central role played by teachers in shaping the country’s future. She commended educators for their dedication and sacrifice in nurturing learners and implementing educational programmes across the country. She assured teachers that the Commission remains committed to supporting them in their professional responsibilities.

A key highlight of her address was the emphasis on teacher and staff welfare. She observed that quality education can only be achieved when teachers are motivated, healthy, and supported. The Acting CEO stressed that teacher welfare extends beyond remuneration and includes emotional well-being, career progression, professional growth, and a supportive work environment. She encouraged teachers to continuously upgrade their skills and embrace lifelong learning in order to remain effective in the rapidly changing education landscape.
The visit also provided an opportunity for TSC officials to interact with Secretariat staff serving in the county. Discussions focused on improving service delivery, strengthening teamwork, and enhancing professionalism across all levels of educational administration.
The presence of senior education leaders, including Dr Beatrice Inyangala and Mr. Elias Abdi, underscored the government’s commitment to collaboration among education agencies in promoting quality learning outcomes. Their engagement with stakeholders highlighted the importance of a united effort in addressing educational challenges and creating opportunities for learners across the country.
The visit to Wajir Girls High School served as a strong affirmation of the government’s resolve to build an education system anchored in discipline, excellence, teacher welfare, and learner success. By placing equal emphasis on academic achievement, mental wellness, professional growth, and character development, education leaders continue to lay a firm foundation for a brighter future for Kenya’s learners.
