A cloud of grief has engulfed residents of Terik Zone in Nandi South sub-county following the sudden death of a newly Teachers Service Commission (TSC) employed teacher, Felix Imbindi Isabu, who reportedly passed away after complaining of severe stomach pain.

It is reported that Felix, aged 43, had only recently secured employment under TSC after years of waiting and struggling as an unemployed teacher.

According to colleagues and residents, he had received only one month’s salary before his untimely death.

The late teacher was serving at Soi Primary and Junior Secondary School in Terik Zone, Nandi County, where he had been practicing teaching duties with dedication and commitment.

Friends and fellow teachers described Felix as a hardworking and patient educator who had endured many years of uncertainty while hoping for formal employment by TSC.

At one point, those close to him say, he had almost given up on the dream of being absorbed into the commission due to the long delay.

His eventual employment had brought renewed hope and excitement not only to him but also to his family and the local community, many of whom believed his life was finally taking a positive turn.

However, that joy was cut short after he reportedly developed stomach complications on Sunday before passing away suddenly, leaving colleagues, learners, and residents in deep shock.

The news of his death has sparked emotional reactions among teachers and community members, with many expressing pain over what they termed as a cruel twist of fate.

“This is heartbreaking. He waited for employment for many years and only enjoyed the job briefly,” said one teacher who knew him closely.

Residents described Felix as humble, disciplined and passionate about education, adding that his dedication inspired many young people within the area.

His death now adds to growing concerns over the struggles faced by many trained teachers in Kenya who spend years searching for permanent employment opportunities before finally securing jobs late in life.

Family members, friends and colleagues continue to mourn him as burial preparations begin.
