MoE rolls out nationwide e-procurement training for public secondary schools

Basic Education Principal Secretary Julius Bitok. A letter announcing the nationwide e-procurement training programme for public secondary schools was signed on his behalf by Simon Mururi.

The Ministry of Education (MoE) and the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) have launched a nationwide training and sensitization programme on the Electronic Government Procurement (e-GP) system targeting public secondary schools across the country.

According to a letter dated May 14, 2026, signed by Mr. Simon Mururi on behalf of the Principal Secretary in the State Department for Basic Education Prof Julius Bitok, the programme will run from May 19 to June 11, 2026, and will involve County Directors of Education (CDEs), Sub-county Directors of Education (SCDEs), school administrators, and procurement officers.

The Ministry noted that the programme follows a request by the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority through a letter dated April 27, 2026, and approval granted by the Principal Secretary through Ref. MOE/SCHM/7/33/VOL V dated May 4, 2026.

“This is to bring to your attention that the State Department for Basic Education and Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) is planning to roll out training and sensitization of e-GP System to schools as from 19th May 2026 to 4th June 2026,” reads part of the ministry communication signed by Simon Mururi on behalf of the Principal Secretary.

The Ministry directed County Directors of Education to coordinate with Sub-county Directors of Education in mobilizing participants for the training programme across all regions.

The programme is expected to cover more than 9,063 participants drawn from public secondary schools countrywide.

Education officials said the move is aimed at strengthening transparency, accountability, efficiency, and digital integration in procurement processes within learning institutions.

The training programme has been divided into regional phases, with different counties assigned venues, consultants, and training dates.

First phase: May 19–21, 2026

The first phase will cover Nairobi, Busia, Siaya, Kisumu, Kakamega, Vihiga, and Bungoma counties.
