Tenwek High School and the Tenwek Alumni Association have launched a Sh1.5 million medical appeal to support Form Four student Barrack Cheruiyot, who requires urgent heart surgery.

Tenwek High School and the Tenwek Alumni Association have launched a medical appeal to support a Form Four student in need of urgent heart surgery.

The beneficiary, Barrack Cheruiyot, described by teachers and fellow students as a bright and hardworking candidate in the 2026 class, requires specialised treatment at the Tenwek Cardiothoracic Centre.

The family is seeking to raise approximately Sh1.5 million to cover the cost of the life-saving procedure.

In a statement, the school and alumni association said they had partnered with Barrack’s family and friends to mobilise support from well-wishers and members of the public.

The association noted that, despite ongoing contributions, additional financial assistance is still needed to cover medical costs and ensure Barrack receives treatment in time.

As part of the fundraising efforts, a major harambee has been organised for today at Kamanamsim Village in Litein Ward, Kericho County, where leaders, alumni, community members, and friends are expected to attend in solidarity with the student and his family.

The Tenwek Alumni Association appealed to Kenyans of goodwill to stand with Barrack during the difficult period, saying every contribution would help give the young student another chance to pursue his education and future dreams.

The association’s Treasurer, Solomon Cheruiyot, is coordinating the fundraising efforts.

Members of the public willing to support the appeal have been asked to channel their contributions through the organizing team using the provided contact number, 0725356958.
