Students at Kabianga Boys High School in Kericho County have benefited from a mentorship programme aimed at empowering learners with life skills, discipline and career guidance as part of efforts to nurture responsible and focused young people.
The mentorship session was held during the school’s Principal’s Hour and was facilitated by Wilson Tonui, a Kipsigis professional, CEO and founder of WITO Boresha Maisha Organisation.
The engagement brought together students and teachers for discussions on critical social and educational issues affecting learners in schools today.
Among the topics discussed were good citizenship, discipline, career choice, substance abuse and peer influence. Students were encouraged to remain focused on their academic goals, uphold discipline and avoid activities that could negatively affect their future.
Speaking during the session, Tonui noted that school mentorship programmes play a critical role in shaping and defining a student’s destiny by helping young people make informed decisions early in life.
He emphasised the importance of self-discipline, hard work and positive peer relationships in achieving academic and personal success.
“I was privileged to share with students during the Principal’s Hour on important issues affecting their future and personal growth. Mentorship remains key in guiding learners towards responsible living and leadership,” he said.
The school administration, led by school chief Dr Daniel Chelule, was praised for creating an enabling environment that supports both academic excellence and character development among students.

Teachers and education stakeholders present during the programme said mentorship initiatives remain important in addressing challenges facing learners, especially at a time when cases of drug abuse, indiscipline and negative peer pressure continue to affect schools across the country.
The WITO Boresha Maisha Organisation reaffirmed its commitment to partnering with schools in mentorship and empowerment programmes aimed at inspiring greatness and building a responsible generation of future leaders.
