The Kenya Power Foundation has pledged to fully renovate the medical facility at Kakamega High School in a move aimed at improving healthcare services for nearly 3,000 students at the institution.

The commitment was announced during a visit by foundation officials to the school under the organisation’s Education and Community Wellness programme.

The delegation was led by Kenya Power Foundation General Manager for Finance, Stephen Vikiru, an alumnus of the school, alongside Kakamega County Business Manager Eunice Wafula.

Speaking during the visit, Wafula said the foundation remains committed to supporting initiatives that improve the welfare of learners and create conducive learning environments.

“This project is about ensuring students have access to better healthcare services within the school so they can concentrate on their studies without unnecessary disruptions. As Kenya Power Foundation, we are proud to partner with institutions that are shaping the future of our country,” said Wafula.

The team was received by the school’s Chief Principal, Dr. Elphas Aliva, who welcomed the initiative and praised the foundation for investing in student welfare.

“We are deeply grateful to the Kenya Power Foundation for this timely support. The renovation of our medical facility will go a long way in improving the wellbeing of our students and strengthening healthcare services within the school,” said Dr. Aliva.

He noted that the upgraded facility would help the school respond more effectively to students’ medical needs and provide a safer and healthier environment for learning.

Officials said the renovation project forms part of Kenya Power Foundation’s broader efforts to support education and community development through investments in health, infrastructure and student welfare programmes across the country.

Education stakeholders have increasingly emphasized the importance of well-equipped medical facilities in schools, noting that improved student health contributes significantly to better academic performance and overall learner welfare.
