Nursing Council shifts exam centres for May 2026 licensure candidates in four region

NCK reshuffles exam centres for May 2026 licensure candidates, affecting multiple regions and directing students to new venues ahead of exams.

Thousands of nursing candidates preparing for the May 2026 licensure examinations will report to different venues after the Nursing Council of Kenya reshuffled examination centres across four regions in what the regulator described as a logistical adjustment.

The Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK) announced the changes and urged all affected candidates to take note and prepare accordingly.

Candidates from Makindu and Kitui, Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) examination centres will now sit their examinations at Machakos University, with no provision for maintaining the previous venues.

At the Nairobi Hospital examination centre, the redistribution affects multiple cadres. Some Kenya Registered Community Health Nurses (KRCHN) candidates will be reassigned to the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA) examination centre, as will all Kenya Registered Nurse/Midwife and Health Promotion (KRN/MHP) candidates previously scheduled under the Nairobi Hospital centre. Some Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) candidates will also be relocated to the Kenya Institute of Management (KEMI) examination centre.

Further adjustments have been made at the Mombasa KMTC centre, where some BScN and KRCHN candidates will now sit their examinations at the North Coast examination centre.

In Eldoret, some KRCHN candidates from the Eldoret National Polytechnic centre will now sit their examinations at D. Kilimo Medical Training College.

The council warned candidates that a change of examination centre at their own request is not allowed.

The May 2026 examinations are scheduled to start on May 13 for most programmes, with some select programmes sitting on May 14 and 15.

Candidates have been directed to attend a mandatory in-person rehearsal at their designated examination centres and complete both mock exams before being allowed to sit the main examination. Attendance at the rehearsal will only be considered valid if candidates are physically present, sit the mock exam on the examination system, receive their NCK examination card and sign the attendance register.
