President Ruto launches construction of 580-bed capacity hostel block at Kiharu TTI

President William Ruto alongside Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has today laid the foundation stone for a 580-unit modern student hostel at Kiharu Technical Training Institute  (TTI)in Muranga County, a move towards safe and adequate accommodation.

Speaking after the launch, President Ruto said that the Ksh. 300 Million student accommodation project is part of the Ksh. 27 Billion investment by the National Government in affordable housing, fresh produce markets, and student hostels across Murang’a County.

“We are expanding facilities in our colleges and universities to empower young people with the technical and digital skills, knowledge and competencies required to drive a dynamic economy.” He said

Ruto added that investing in TVETs is investing in skills, jobs, and the future of our youth. Step by step, Kenya is transforming — and people-centred interventions remain key to that transformation.

The head of state also commissioned a modern ICT Jitume Lab at the technical college, equipped with 100 new computers, at which the students will be trained to monetise their digital skills and competencies.
