Emmanuel Kipngetich Rono from Cheptabach in Boito Ward, Konoin Sub-county, Bomet County, has earned a place at the East Africa Secondary School Games after clinching silver in the long jump during the KSSSA term one games held in Kisumu.
Rono delivered a strong and composed performance against a highly competitive national field, finishing as first runners-up to secure automatic qualification for the regional championships.
His result confirmed his steady rise in Kenya’s school athletics scene and marked a major milestone in his young career.
The breakthrough came during the intense KSSSA term one games in Kisumu 2026, where top athletes from across the country competed for national titles and East Africa slots.
Rono’s consistency in his jumps ensured he remained among the leading contenders throughout the final round.
He will now represent Kenya at the East Africa Secondary School Games, set to be held in Arusha, Tanzania, in August, where he will face elite young athletes from across the region.

From the hills of Cheptabach, Konoin sub-county in Bomet county, Rono’s journey has been defined by discipline, patience, and continuous improvement, with coaches praising his growing maturity in field events and his ability to perform under pressure.

Beyond athletics, Rono is also a talented football forward who plays as a striker for St Cyprian Biticha Secondary School in Nyamira County, where his attacking instincts have made him a key player for the school team.
