Education CS Migos Ogamba inspects Gusii Stadium ahead of its expansion, which is set to benefit CBE learners in the region.

The expansion of Gusii Stadium will benefit Competence-Based Education (CBE) learners from neighbouring schools, Education Cabinet Secretary Migos Ogamba has said.

The CS notes the expansion will cost KSh 900 m and will benefit students undertaking Sports Science in the new Curriculum.

The Cabinet Secretary spoke at the stadium after inspecting it ahead of President William Ruto’s three-day development tour of the Gusii region, starting tomorrow, Sunday, April 12, 2026.

“The contractor is on site, and the work will be done by the military and be completed by December this year,” Ogamba said at the facility.

He noted that the facility is critical to the education sector, adding that it will be equipped with all sporting equipment and facilities to foster sports and education.

He noted that students will use the facility for their practicals, stressing that it will help them develop their talents and chart their pathways in sports science.

“The new Curriculum is more practically oriented, and we want our children to discover their talents and exploit them to benefit them and the community,” Ogamba said.

Ogamba said the Southern Nyanza Kisii Agricultural Society of Kenya (ASK) has been relocated to Nyatieko to pave the way for the expansion of the Stadium.

The Head of State is also expected to hand over a modern bus to Shabana Football Club (FC) and watch a game between it and Gucha Stars.
