Football action bursts into life in Kakamega today as top boys’ schools converge at Bukhungu Stadium for a high-stakes three-day gospel festival tournament, offering a crucial build-up to the upcoming two-term games.
This tournament comes ahead of preparations for the term two games, giving schools a platform to sharpen their skills and build momentum ahead of the larger competition.
Today features an exciting lineup of matches, starting with Ingotse High School taking on Kisumu Boys, followed by a high-stakes clash between Tande Boys and national champions St Joseph Boys High School popularly known as JOBO.
Later, St. Paul’s Emulakha faces Kisumu Boys while Ingotse High School plays St. Paul’s Emulakha, and the day concludes with Shanderema Boys taking on JOBO.
Spectators can expect skillful displays, competitive spirit, and plenty of excitement as teams fight for early bragging rights in the tournament.

The tournament’s semi-finals are set for tomorrow with the grand finale scheduled for Saturday.
The organizers have raised the stakes with over 0.5 million shillings in prizes, highlighting the tournament’s prestige and the growing popularity of school football in the region.
The tournament is proudly sponsored by Kakamega governor Fernandes Barasa and CITAM Church, reflecting strong community support for nurturing talent, promoting youth sports and encouraging discipline and teamwork among students.
