Kaplong Boys High School in Bomet County has invited schools from across the region to take part in its Annual National Mathematics Contest 2026, scheduled for Saturday, May 23, 2026, beginning at 8:00 a.m. at the school grounds.
The invitation, circulated through the Sub-county Director of Education in Sotik and addressed to Heads of Mathematics Departments, outlines the school’s commitment to strengthening mathematics learning and nurturing academic excellence among secondary school students.
The contest aims to demystify mathematics by creating a dynamic platform where learners and teachers can interact, exchange ideas, and challenge themselves intellectually.
In the official communication, the school principal underscores the central role mathematics plays not only in academic achievement but also in developing critical thinking, logical reasoning, and problem-solving skills essential in today’s competitive world.

By hosting the annual contest, the institution seeks to inspire confidence in learners and cultivate a positive attitude toward STEM subjects.
The competition will be conducted in two categories: junior and senior.
Each participating school will field teams of 10 students per category, with questions tailored to suit the respective levels.
Schools are allowed to register multiple teams, offering more students the opportunity to participate and gain exposure in competitive mathematics.
A registration fee of Ksh2,500 per team has been set to cater for invigilation, marking, certification, and awards for top performers.
Participating schools have been advised to carry packed lunch and the necessary mathematical instruments for the day.

Over the past three years, Kaplong Boys’ High school has maintained a consistent mean grade of B- in KCSE Mathematics, with the 2025 cohort attaining a mean score of 8.2.

Schools wishing to participate have been requested to confirm attendance through the designated teachers listed in the invitation letter.
The annual contest is expected to draw wide interest and further cement Kaplong Boys’ reputation as a centre of excellence in Mathematics education.
