The Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) has confirmed the allocation of delegates for its upcoming Special Delegates Conference (SDC) scheduled to take place at Tom Mboya University in Kisumu City. The union has directed branches to convene meetings to appoint representatives in line with constitutional requirements.
According to a circular signed by KNUT Secretary General Collins Henry Oyuu dated March 23, 2026, each branch was to submit its delegate list in the prescribed format by March 27, 2026.
The lists must be verified and signed by the branch chairman, executive secretary, and treasurer before being forwarded to the union’s ICT office. Oyuu emphasized that only duly signed and validated lists will be accepted.

“The list of delegates should be captured in the attached Excel Format and submitted to our office through email address ict@knut.or.ke not later than Friday, 27th March 2026 from 8:00am to 5:00pm,” Oyuu said.
The allocation of delegates has been distributed across the country’s regions. The Central Region will send 231 delegates, the Coast Region 170, Eastern Region 474, Nairobi Region 43, North Eastern Region 35, Nyanza Region 390, Rift Valley Region 643, and Western Region 294. In total, 2,280 delegates are expected to attend the Kisumu conference.
The union has instructed branches to make proper transport arrangements to ensure delegates travel to and from Kisumu smoothly. The circular further reminded officials that appointed delegates must conform to KNUT’s constitution under Article VII provisions.
