Grief has engulfed the Kakamega Polytechnic after the body of its principal, Carolyn Kamete, was found along the shores of Lake Victoria on Friday, two days after she reportedly went missing.
Kamete, who was commonly known as Madam Caro, was last seen on Wednesday. Her sudden and mysterious death has left students, staff, and residents shattered, with many still struggling to process the loss of a leader who had become synonymous with the institution.
Police retrieved her body from the lakeshore in Kisumu County and transported it to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH), where a post-mortem examination is expected to determine the cause of death.
