Former National Police Service Commission chairperson Johnson Kavuludi has called on parents and the wider community to take a more proactive role in supporting schools to achieve meaningful and sustainable progress.

Speaking during the Annual General Meeting (AGM) at Senende Boys Senior School, Kavulundi underscored the importance of collective responsibility in strengthening the education sector, noting that schools cannot succeed without active community involvement.

He emphasized that while teachers play a central role in delivering academic content, parents must reinforce discipline, provide guidance, and create a supportive environment for learners at home. According to Kavuludi, a strong partnership between parents and educators is critical in shaping well-rounded students who can excel both academically and socially.

Echoing the theme of enhanced community and parental involvement, Kavuludi stressed that education thrives where there is unity of purpose among all stakeholders.

“As stakeholders, we must understand that education is a shared responsibility. When parents, teachers, and the community work together, schools are better positioned to register improved performance and nurture responsible citizens,” he said.

Drawing from his experience as an alumnus of the school, Kavuludi urged former students to remain connected to their institutions and contribute towards their growth. He noted that alumni networks can play a key role in mentorship, career guidance, and mobilizing resources for infrastructural development.

During the event, Kavuludi officially launched the school’s 2026 magazine, describing it as a significant step in documenting the institution’s journey, achievements, and aspirations. He commended the school leadership for the initiative, saying such platforms not only preserve history but also motivate current students to strive for excellence.

The AGM also provided an opportunity for the school administration to outline its progress, challenges, and future plans. School leaders highlighted ongoing academic improvements and called for continued support from parents and stakeholders to sustain the positive trajectory.

Parents present welcomed the call for greater involvement, acknowledging the need to work closely with teachers to enhance student outcomes.

His remarks come at a time when schools across the country are increasingly seeking collaborative approaches to address challenges and improve overall performance.
