Seventh-day Adventist student pastors and university learners from Kisii County have pledged to work closely with local leadership to advance education and promote peaceful coexistence. The commitment was made during a meeting hosted at Governor Simba Arati’s residence, where he was joined by his deputy, Elijah Obebo.
The students emphasized their resolve to support initiatives that align with President William Ruto’s administration, particularly those that prioritize education and peace. “We prefer education and peace, which the President and our leaders are championing through the broad-based government,” said Abel Omwenga, a student leader. He noted that collaboration between leaders, educators, and the community is essential for progress. “Together, we can achieve more,” he added.

Speakers at the meeting underscored the importance of peace and unity in creating a conducive environment for learning. They warned that without peace, schools risk becoming breeding grounds for conflict, making it difficult for learners to focus on their studies.
Governor Simba welcomed the students’ commitment, stressing that education and peace are inseparable. He urged them to continue championing unity and to support initiatives that uplift communities. “Peace and education go hand-in-hand, and it is encouraging to see young people take responsibility in shaping their future,” Arati said.
