Veteran Mukumu Girls’ High School’s best drama teacher has announced his bid to vie for Kakamega County Senator’s seat in next year’s general election
Raphael Welimo is a distinguished educator, trainer, and a graduate of Kenyatta University
Speaking to Education Newspaper, he dedicated many years to the classroom, specializing in Kiswahili and Literature in English.
In his manifesto, he pledged to insist that the national and county governments allocate more resources to educational infrastructure and make sure that the learning environment, equipment, and teachers are available in accordance with the needs of various institutions
Additionally, he will ensure that the existing TVETS are well equipped ” That is where CBC is taking us, while CBE is emphasizing much more practical performance for the learner than the 8-4-4 system that was based on rote learning.” He Stated

Once newly elected, will liaise with education stakeholders, basically with KEPSHA, KESHA, Ministry of Education and parents to transform the education level in the County because it has left it to the national government, expressing that they will definitely demand the government to deliver its mandate well for people
As the government exercises its mandate, he will demand that they employ more teachers, allocate enough funds to infrastructure and reduce the amount they are paying to publishers since most of the publishers are owned by corrupt individuals in the country
“I speak without fear of contradiction because from November to December last year, textbooks of the 8-4-4 system, which are faced out, were still delivered to schools.” He reiterated, and added that the demand for textbook funds should be channelled to schools directly to the stakeholders who understand the syllabus that is required
