Western Region JSS drama festivals results released as schools excel across various categories

Results of the Western Region Junior Secondary Schools (JSS) Drama and Film Festivals have been released, revealing outstanding performances from schools across multiple categories.

In the Play category, Busia Ebenezer emerged as the top performer, followed by Fesbeth Academy in second place, while Zack Star finished third. The category attracted stiff competition, with schools demonstrating creativity and strong stage coordination.

In Choral Verse, Mahyakalo secured second place, with Bukirimo taking third, as participants showcased mastery of voice modulation and thematic presentation. The Spoken Word category saw Buderie claim the top spot, with Kibabii and Wamilabi finishing second and third, respectively.

Budokomi dominated the Stand-up Comedy category, taking first place ahead of Bukembe and Chavakali, whose performances also drew strong audience engagement.

In Solo Verse, Abari Junior School emerged first, followed by St. Joseph Busia in second place, while Busy Brain finished third. Cultural performances remained a highlight, with Shimanyiro taking top honours in Cultural Creative Dance, followed by Lukonyi and Nyayo T-Zone.

St. Mary’s Mukumu led in the Modern Dance category, with Epanga Junior School and Lugulu finishing second and third, respectively. In Solo Dance, Mumias Central emerged first, while Waludeya and Busende Bala took second and third positions.

In the Live TV Broadcast category, Malaba Township claimed the top position, followed by Naitiri RC and Ebusamba. Lugulu Boarding led in the Narrative category, ahead of Ekambili Complex and Kibabii Academy.

In the Kenyan Sign Language (KSL) Play, Friends School emerged first, with St. Antony Webuye finishing second. In the Special Needs Education (SNE) Dance category, Friends School Kivavei took top honours, followed by Kabuchai.

The results highlight the growing impact of co-curricular activities under the Competency-Based Curriculum, with schools across the Western Region continuing to demonstrate excellence in creative arts.
