Residents of Nyangweta village in Nyansakia location, Etago Subcounty, are calling on authorities to address their long-standing issue of lack of electricity connectivity.

Led by Daniel Onchwati and Jane George, the residents claim that the absence of electricity in schools and homes has negatively impacted their children’s education, as they struggle to complete homework and are at risk of failing exams.

The residents are urging South Mugirango MP, Sylvanus Osoro, to revisit his promise of connecting electricity to their area, citing concerns over insecurity and other challenges.

The lack of electricity has far-reaching implications, including limited access to information, reduced economic opportunities, and increased risk of crime. On the other hand, electricity connectivity can bring numerous benefits, such as improved lighting, access to digital resources, and enhanced security.

The residents highlighted that electricity would enable their children to study effectively, improve their performance, and access online resources. Additionally, it would support small-scale businesses, boost economic growth, and enhance the overall quality of life.

The residents’ plea highlights the need for urgent attention to this issue. With the MP’s promise still unfulfilled, the community is counting on his support to bring electricity to their doorstep.
