At least 13,700 students are set to benefit from a newly expanded bursary programme in Bamachoge Borabu Constituency, Kenyanya Sub-County, marking a significant increase from the 10,800 beneficiaries recorded in the 2024–2025 financial year.
Speaking during the official launch of the bursary at St Peters Keberesi Secondary School, Bomachoge Borabu Member of Parliament (MP) Obadiah Barongo assured residents that the allocation process would be fair, transparent, and free from bias.
He emphasized that priority would be given to applicants whose parents are registered voters within the constituency, noting that the initiative aims to directly uplift local families.
Barongo attributed the rise in the number of beneficiaries to improved verification and communication processes, which have made it easier for genuinely needy parents to access support.
He said any applicant who demonstrates a clear commitment to their child’s education stands a high chance of receiving the bursary.
“We are seeing growing interest from parents who are keen on securing a better future for their children. Education remains the ultimate equalizer,” Barongo said.
