Serem Boys High School and St Mary’s Girls Tachasis will represent Nandi County in the upcoming Rift Valley Regional School Games set to take place in Nakuru starting March 17.

The two schools secured their slots after emerging champions in the Term One county football and hockey competitions.

Speaking to the press, County Schools Sports Chairman Daniel Chebisa said the two teams are well prepared and determined to excel at the regional stage.

“The teams have trained well and are ready for the Rift Valley regional games. Their ultimate goal is to qualify for the East Africa games,” Chebisa said.

He congratulated the teams for their impressive performances and urged them to maintain discipline and determination during the upcoming competitions.

In the boys’ category, Serem Boys booked their place at the regional level after defeating Kaptumo Boys High School 28–21 in handball before edging past Laburet Boys High School 2–0 in hockey.

In the girls’ matches, St Mary’s Tachasis qualified after narrowly beating Aldai Girls High School 1–0 in hockey.

Earlier in the competition, St Mary’s Girls had knocked out Chepterit Girls High School with a convincing 3–0 victory.

Chebisa expressed optimism about the teams’ chances this year, noting that officiating challenges had previously hindered their progress.

“In the past, we failed to move to the next level because of officiating problems, but we are hopeful that this time the teams will advance further,” he said.

He also praised the players for their endurance and discipline on the field, noting that many of them were relatively young last year, which contributed to their earlier defeats.

Fans also welcomed the teams’ victories with excitement. Supporters led by Jackson Kosi warned rival schools to brace themselves for tough competition at the regional games.

“We are confident in our teams. Other schools should be ready because our players are determined to win,” Kosi said.
