The Narok County Secondary Schools Sports Association, Secretary Jacob Barusei has called on players to maintain discipline as the county’s secondary school sports term one season kicks off.

Speaking during the official opening at Maasai Girls Secondary School grounds, Barusei urged competitors to uphold fair play, respect and good conduct throughout the competitions.

He highlighted that Narok County’s sub-county and zonal games had been conducted smoothly, with no incidents reported, a sign of the commitment schools have shown to fostering orderly and competitive sporting environments.

Barusei said this sets a strong foundation for success at the higher-level Rift Valley regional games.

He also lauded principals and coaches for meeting the Ministry of Education’s registration deadlines for the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA), noting that 100 per cent registration allowed schools to verify student details and correct any errors in good time, ensuring all eligible players can compete without issues.

“Discipline is not just about following rules, it is about creating a team that can compete with pride, represent the county well, and succeed at higher levels,” Barusei emphasized.

He reminded students that talent alone is not enough; it must be paired with self-control, teamwork, and respect for officials, coaches, and fellow competitors.

With the Rift Valley regional games in Nakuru scheduled for March 17–21, Barusei encouraged all players to give their best and showcase the county’s sporting talent.

He said that a disciplined approach would not only enhance performance but also promote the values of sportsmanship and integrity among students.

The official opening at Maasai Girls grounds underscored the county’s commitment to nurturing young sporting talent while maintaining high standards of conduct.

Barusei’s message was clear: success in sports begins with discipline, both on and off the field and Narok County is determined to set the standard.
