Days after his burial, the late Emurua Dikkr MP Johana Kipyegon Ng’eno continues to be remembered for his contribution to education.
Students who benefited from his scholarship programmes praising him as a transformative leader.
Led by Hosea Kibet, the learners described the late legislator as a hero who changed the lives of many needy students through his education support initiatives.
Speaking during a visit to the late MP’s home, Kibet recalled how Ngeno came to his aid after identifying him during a music concert in West Pokot County.
“He noticed my talent during a music concert in West Pokot and later facilitated my transfer from a day school to a boarding school where he paid all my school fees,” said Kibet.
Kibet noted that the opportunity greatly improved his academic performance, explaining that his family background would not have allowed him to access quality education.
“I come from a humble background and studying in a boarding school gave me a better environment to concentrate on my studies. Without his support, my education would have been very difficult,” he added.

He also supported learning institutions by providing school buses to several schools and ensuring that students both within and outside the constituency remained in school.
The beneficiaries, who are at various levels of education, also appealed for transparency in the awarding of bursaries and scholarships.
