The Daystar University Vice Chancellor Prof. Laban Ayiro has invited students, staff and members of the public to participate in the Daystar LAP Run scheduled for today, March 7, 2026.
The Daystar LAP Run, a charitable initiative seeks to raise funds to support students with disabilities facing financial hardship, reaffirming the university’s commitment to inclusivity and equal opportunity.
Prof. Ayiro was speaking in his office after meeting Patrick Odongo, one of the institution’s outstanding student-athletes, who paid him a courtesy call to share his academic and sporting progress.
He expressed his delight at Odongo’s continued excellence both in class and on the rugby field, noting that the young sportsman has remained focused and disciplined while representing the university and the country with pride.
“It is always encouraging to see our students grow and succeed in different spheres of life. Patrick is a resilient and determined young man who exemplifies the values we uphold at Daystar,” said the Vice Chancellor.

Odongo, who features for the Daystar Falcons Rugby team, has been instrumental in the squad’s recent performances.
Prof. Ayiro commended the team for consistently making the university proud through their dedication, teamwork and discipline.
He also stated that the institution remains committed to nurturing well-rounded graduates by balancing academic excellence with co-curricular engagement.
“The university provides a supportive environment where students can explore their talents, develop their passions and thrive holistically.” He noted
