The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has transferred a teacher from Moi Primary School in Nakuru West Sub-County to Nakuru North Sub-County, according to an official letter issued by the Commission’s Nakuru County office.
The letter, dated March 5, 2026, was addressed to Betty Nkirote Mureithi and copied to the headteacher of Moi Primary School and other TSC offices.
In the directive signed by Nakuru County Director G. M. Chemos, the Commission formally communicated the transfer decision and instructed the school administration to facilitate the process.
“It has been decided that you be transferred from your current station, Moi Primary School – Nakuru West Sub County, to Nakuru North Sub County with effect from March 9, 2026.”
The Commission also directed the school head to formally release the teacher and notify the TSC county office of the transition.
“By a copy of this letter, the Headteacher, Moi Primary School, is requested to inform this office of the date you are released.”
Similarly, the receiving sub-county office was asked to confirm when the teacher reports to the new duty station to ensure proper payroll processing.
“The Sub-County – Nakuru North is requested to inform this office of the date you report for duty so that your salary can be paid through the new station.”
The letter further reminds teachers that transfers must be handled formally through institutional clearance procedures.
“Note that it is an offence to leave your duty station and join another without being formally released in writing by your current Head of Institution as stipulated in the TSC Code of Regulations for Teachers.”
Teachers who may wish to challenge the transfer decision have been given a limited window to submit appeals.
“Any appeal against this transfer should reach the commission within fourteen (14) days from the date of this letter.”
The document was later stamped “Forwarded” by Moi Comprehensive School, Nakuru, indicating it had been officially received and processed.
Education News has learnt that the teacher’s transfer was initiated by parents who found her working relationship with the school headteacher Caroline Chebbe to be very toxic hence the need to have a peaceful learning environment in the school.
In exchange seen between the two, it is clear that the administrator and the the teacher were not in good terms, with threats being thrown around.
Nkirote, who is a young teacher is reported to have served TSC for few years and has been transferred from different schools with Nakuru County.
Under the TSC policy, a newly employed teacher should serve in one station for at least five years before qualifying for a transfer, however, Nkirote has been transferred three times within such short span of time.
The transfer comes at a time when Moi Primary School in Nakuru West Sub-County has recently been in the spotlight following a tragic incident in which a pupil died under unclear circumstances.
The situation escalated after grieving parents reportedly stormed the school compound carrying the body of the learner while demanding answers from school administrators.
Authorities have since launched investigations into the incident as education officials and police seek to establish the exact cause of death.
While the transfer letter does not directly reference the incident, it has drawn attention given the heightened scrutiny surrounding the school in recent days.
TSC officials have not yet issued further clarification regarding whether the transfer is part of routine staff redeployment or related to recent developments at the institution.
