Webuye West Member of Parliament (MP) Dan Wanyama Sitati has announced the commencement of bursary cheque disbursement to thousands of students across the constituency following the conclusion of a recent application and vetting exercise.

In a statement released to the public, the legislator confirmed that 3,350 secondary school students and 1,400 tertiary and university students have successfully qualified to benefit from the bursary program under the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF).

Wanyama said the initiative is aimed at supporting needy learners and ensuring that financial challenges do not derail their pursuit of education.

“Following the recent bursary application exercise and a thorough vetting process, we are pleased to notify the public that the issuance of bursary cheques has officially commenced,” the MP said.

According to the lawmaker, secondary school students studying outside Webuye West Constituency will collect their bursary cheques at the Matisi NG-CDF offices.

However, learners enrolled in schools within the constituency will receive their cheques directly through their respective institutions to facilitate a smooth and efficient distribution process.

The MP congratulated the successful beneficiaries and reiterated his commitment to promoting access to education across the constituency.

“We congratulate all the successful beneficiaries and remain committed to supporting access to education for our students,” he added.

Education stakeholders have welcomed the move, noting that bursaries play a critical role in supporting students from vulnerable backgrounds and improving school retention rates.

The bursary program has remained one of the key interventions by the NG-CDF in enhancing access to education by easing the financial burden on families struggling to pay school fees.

The latest disbursement is expected to benefit students across all wards in Webuye West, reinforcing efforts by the constituency leadership to invest in education as a driver of development.

Parents and guardians have also expressed optimism that the bursary support will enable many students to remain in school and concentrate on their studies without disruptions caused by fee balances.

The Webuye West NG-CDF office has urged beneficiaries to adhere to the provided guidelines during the collection process to ensure accountability and transparency in the distribution of the funds.
