The Nyangeti Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) pastor has asked the church to instill values of hard-work, resilience in youth in order to better their lives.
Pastor Jared Ogendo said that if the youth energy is harnessed and directed to farm work, the food insecurity will be solved, and a lot of money saved.
“The church should be in the forefront towards the creation of home tailored jobs to help government solve the teething unemployment state in the country.” He said.
The council of elders in the church through a soul searching consultative discussion also called for review of church programmes, and introduction of manual activities that will train youth to be active producers rather than passive consumers.

The elders also asked youth to stay in their rural homes and work in farms after school as they wait for the next step to take in life instead of wandering in towns and involving themselves in drug abuse.
Pastor Okindo further decried the big number of youth seeking jobs abroad, who end up in wrong hands. He urged the government to collaborate with the church for jobs creation to save Kenyans from suffering in foreign lands.
“I am urging the government to invest in the church by either partnership or setting aside funds to help support youth programmes so that the problems they face are reduced,” He said.
He asked the County Governments to involve church in its social and financial outreach programmes to support most of the youth who are in living in misery.
