The Koibeiyon Alumni Association has paid glowing tribute to its former student, Nicholas Kosgei (ADM 1384), Class of 2018, describing him as a bright and promising professional whose life was tragically cut short in a plane crash on Saturday, February 28, 2026.
In a statement released by the association’s secretary, Caren Chepkirui, the alumni fraternity remembered Nicholas as a disciplined, focused, and exemplary student during his years at Koibeiyon Secondary School in Bomet East Sub-county.
He stood out both academically and in co-curricular activities, earning national recognition at the Bomas of Kenya during a Public Speaking Competition where he ranked among the top performers.
After high school, Nicholas pursued a degree in Journalism at Maseno University, laying the foundation for a career in public communication and media.

He served at the Communication Office of the governor of Bomet before later joining the Parliament of Kenya as official media personnel attached to Emurua Dikirr MP Johana Ngeno.
Nicholas was on official duty at the time of the crash and was accompanying the legislator when the ill-fated aircraft went down, claiming their lives and those of other occupants.

The alumni association described him as a rising star whose professionalism, resilience and dedication to service inspired many within and beyond the Koibeiyon fraternity.
The members said his commitment to excellence and public service reflected the values instilled during his formative years at the institution.

The association extended heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, colleagues and the wider Koibeiyon community, noting that his passing leaves a deep void that will be difficult to fill.
As tributes continue to pour in, Nicholas Kosgei is being remembered not only for his achievements but also for the promise of a future that was tragically taken too soon.
