Super Eight School tournament ignites Kakamega with high-stakes football showdown

Football fever has gripped Western Kenya as the Annual Super Eight School Tournament- Kakamega Edition kicks off today, drawing together some of the region’s most formidable secondary school teams for a highly anticipated showdown.

Set to run from today to Sunday, the tournament will unfold across two iconic venues, the historic Bukhungu stadium and the scenic Kakamega school grounds.

Over two days of intense competition, fans can expect a thrilling display of skill, discipline and raw ambition as young footballers battle for supremacy.

The curtain rises this morning at Bukhungu Stadium, where Butere Boys lock horns with St. Joseph’s Boys in what promises to be a fast-paced opener.

Later in the day, Kakamega School will face St. Anthony in a tactical duel likely to test both benches, before St. Mary’s Yala take on Butere Boys in the afternoon fixture.

Simultaneously at the Kakamega school grounds, St. Mary’s Yala will square off with Kirangari in the early kickoff. Kisumu Day will then battle Highway Secondary at noon while St. Joseph’s Boys return to the pitch later in the afternoon to confront Kirangari in a match that could prove crucial in shaping the group standings.

Tomorrow promises even greater intensity. At Bukhungu Stadium, Kakamega School will meet Kisumu Day in a morning clash expected to draw a strong home crowd. Butere Boys will then face Kirangari at noon before Kakamega School wraps up the day’s fixtures against Highway Secondary in what could determine qualification prospects.

Meanwhile, at the Kakamega School Grounds, St. Anthony will take on Highway Secondary in the opening match of the day. At midday, St. Joseph’s Boys and St. Mary’s Yala will renew their rivalry in a contest tipped to be one of the tournament’s highlights. Kisumu Day and St. Anthony will close the day’s action in a fixture likely to deliver late drama.
