Kisii University has officially announced that academic certificates for students who graduated in December 2025 will be available for collection from  February 9 to March 15, 2026.

The announcement brings relief to graduates who have been eagerly awaiting their documents since the end of last year.

The university’s rollout of the certificate collection schedule means that many students will have waited roughly two to three months after their graduation ceremony before receiving their official academic certificates — a timeline that had been of concern to some of the class of 2025.

This development has, however, helped calm growing tensions among the alumni community.

Many graduates had expressed frustration over delays, with some citing the extended wait as a hurdle to starting job opportunities or further studies.

Now, with the formal notice issued by the Registrar’s office, a clear period has been set, allowing qualifiers to plan visits to the university’s administrative offices to obtain their certificates.

In response to the certificate release announcement, graduates have urged the institution to align its processing timelines with those of other Kenyan universities.

Institutions such as Egerton University, Embu University, Machakos University, MKU (Mount Kenya University), Taita Taveta University, Tharaka University, Pwani University, Daystar University, and USIU (United States International University) reportedly issue academic certificates within days after graduation — a practice many Kisii alumni argue enhances efficiency and supports graduates’ transition to employment or postgraduate studies.

Social media groups and alumni forums have echoed these sentiments with calls for Kisii University to adopt faster administrative turnaround on critical academic documentation.

Proponents of the push for efficiency say that quicker certificate issuance not only enhances the university’s reputation but also reduces stress for students entering competitive job markets or application cycles for further education.

As the 9 February to 15 March collection window approaches, graduating students are being advised to ensure they have cleared all outstanding university requirements — including clearance of fees, library dues and other academic obligations — to facilitate a smooth collection process.

Officials from Kisii university have not released detailed daily schedules per department or programme yet but graduates are encouraged to contact the university’s Academic Registrar’s Office for enquiries and confirmation of individual certificate availability.
