The Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) Makueni County branch has retained its leadership following elections held at Makueni Boys High School, with most incumbent officials sweeping back their positions.
Chairman Erastus Kimetu, popularly known as Brigadier, was elected unopposed, while Executive Secretary Justus Kimeu secured his seat for a record seventh consecutive term. Kimeu garnered 2,110 votes against his challenger Juma Mbweli, who managed 783.
In the treasurer’s race, Cosmas Muteti, alias Jowi, won convincingly with 2,010 votes, defeating Shadrack Kiema who received 687. Gender Secretary Janet Mbatha retained her position with 1,945 votes against Grace Tandau’s 857.

Other decisive victories included Francis Kimiti, who secured the Secondary Secretary post with 2,183 votes against Nzau’s 622, and Mercy Muthoka, who clinched the 1st Gender Secondary seat with 2,227 votes against Immaculate Mulei’s 577. Florence Muendo also triumphed in the 3rd Gender Youth category with 2,105 votes, defeating Sharon Muteti who polled 684.
Despite attempts by a faction dubbed “Team Change” to unseat the incumbents, members overwhelmingly backed the “Team Kazi” lineup, citing its track record in service delivery and commitment to teachers’ welfare.
Upon reelection, Executive Secretary Justus Kimeu promised members that the leadership would continue prioritizing service delivery and defending teachers’ interests.
