The debate of offering affordable day secondary school education has intensified in Murang’a County as every Member of Parliament, MP now adjust their National Government Constituency Fund, NG-CDF budgets to support the narrative.
This comes after the outspoken Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro launched education programme, whereby every student in day secondary school within Kiharu will pay Ksh 500 as the annual school fee.
Across Mt Kenya region, the Parliamentarians have declared a free and affordable secondary school education programme of between Ksh 500 and Ksh 1,000.

In Kangema, local MP Peter Kihungu issued bursary cheques as he confirmed to support the day school programme.
Addressing parents from Muguru and Muringaini location at Kangema Empowerment Hall he announced that from second term onward, fees in school in the constituency will be Ksh 1,000 per term for day scholars.
“I have consulted with Kangema day secondary school heads to ensure the programme will be successful,” said Kihungi, adding that he has a strategy to make education more affordable for parents.
