Shinamwenyuli Secondary School best 2025 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education, (KCSE) student in Butere, Kakamega County, who scored a mean grade of A plain has called upon leaders and well-wishers to help him pursue Aeronautical Engineering course at Kenyatta University.
Clement Opiyo, who broke the record in the school and the whole Butere Sub County for scoring a mean grade of A plain of 84 points, was among the 30 best KCSE candidates countrywide
Despite the fact that he comes from a very poor background, raised by a single mother who hawks bananas at the market, the boy has proven that a background can’t stop a student from succeeding.
Speaking to Education News at the school, Opiyo acknowledged that, he was sure of getting grade A plain as he had already seen it since form 1 when he joined the school.
“When I joined Form one, I set my own target to get the A plain in my KCSE exams. I prayed for it and finally I got it.” He said

“To come up with grade A plain, I believed, determined, read books, consulted teachers and had good conduct with teachers.” He added.
The school principal Hellen Atenya said this is a great year in the school for candidate to score a mean grade of A since its inception
Atenya expressed her gratitude over the excellent results revealing that 62 candidates have direct entry to university as compared to last year 42 candidates with mean score was 6.1 which improved from 5.8 in the year 2024.
She said Opiyo showed a lot of dedication, high level of discipline and commitment in his studies
“We are grateful for any assistance that comes by, to enable him pursue his desired course.” Said the Principal, thanking teachers, the BOM, Butere MP Tindi Mwale for supporting students which made them succeed in their academics.
